It’s been a hot minute, hasn’t it? The holiday season took over between work and cooking and y’know, it being warm for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. The usual.

But I’m back tonight for a quick blog post spotlighting items that open in the Polish Pickup (and Indie Pickup!) tomorrow! If you’re unsure of what the Polish Pickup is, I recommend checking out this post here. The only thing that’s changed is that shipping to Canadialand is now $5, but that’s it.

The theme for the February PPU is duos and duets. Makers had a few options: pick a duo that they want to create in polish form, partner with another maker, make two polishes; one for the PPU, and one for their personal shop, OR they could do two items – one for the PPU, and the other for the Indie Pickup (which is everything but polish). I’ve got a little mix of all here in this post, so get some popcorn and let’s dive on in, yeah?

Bohemian Polish | This Is Ourselves – $12.00, no cap; a medium blue crelly base with blue to purple Aurora pigment. Jennifer drew inspiration from Freddie Mercury and David Bowie, and I love exactly where she took this polish. It goes on super smoothly and that shimmer just takes over and takes you to the stars, just like Mercury and Bowie. My photos show two coats plus top coat.

Fanchromatic Nails | Twu Wuv – $11.00, capped at 75; a dreamy, shimmery light purple crelly, with pastel & iridescent glitters, blue & gold microflakes, and tiny iridescent flakies. Y’all, we have a GORGEOUS polish that is inspired by one of the greatest movies of all time. The Princess Bride. Well, the polish is moreso based on Buttercup and Westley. But still. The Princess Bride. YAAAAAS. My photos show two thin coats plus top coat. It goes on super smoothly and settles super easily with the glitters and flakies.

Moon Shine Mani | You Know…That Hair in the Front Row – $12.00, no cap; cherry red holo sparkling with platinum flakies and glowing with red to green aurora shimmer.

The other half of my duo is called I Am a Better Person Because She is Here and it is inspired by Cory from Boy Meets World  It is a mustard cream sparkling with platinum and holo flakies and glistening with gold to green aurora shimmer.  It will be available at during polish pickup weekend for $12 and there will be no cap.

I’ll go ahead and add photos of both because they’re so pretty as a pair, truly. Despite them being so packed with pretties, they both level out beautifully on their own and absolutely glow. For both, my photos show two coats plus top coat.

MTK Design | Mon Cher – $12.50, capped at 75; an almond and rose scented thermal polish; a bright rose red (warm) to dark purple (cool) swimming with tiny iridescent red micro shards, just a sprinkle of red/gold/purpank shifting glitter; and a little red shimmer for that depthy ‘glow’.  The scents tend to alter depending on the day and one can seem dominate one moment and then let the other take over the next.  They totally play well together and will last for days.

Mon Cher was inspired by Gomez & Morticia Addams, and is just lovely. The rose shade plays so nicely with the purple, so when you see the shift, you just fall in love. The scent is quite lovely, too! It’s not too heavy, but not too light, either. Mary outdid herself with this one. It’s a nice nod to the Addams Family that we all love. Mary also has a gorgeous necklace that will be in the IPU. You can find photos and alllll the infos on it here.

Necessary Evil Polish | Kitty!! – $12.00, no cap; a turquoise with purple aurora shimmer, purple-copper ucc flake, and scattered holo. Tamara also created a bubble bar that I’ll show here that’ll be up for preorder in the Indie Pickup ($7.00, no cap) – it’s a fizzy berry scent and it’s delicious. Both items are inspired by Sully and Boo from Monster’s Inc. The polish, Kitty!! is so damn unique and fun and happy and embodies Sully very very well. Tamara did a wonderful job. My photos show two coats plus top coat.

Night Owl Lacquer | Love is Powerful Magic – $12.50, no cap; an indigo tinted base with red/bronze/copper multichrome shift, red/green/gold aurora shimmer, bright silver flakes, gold holo micro shreds and crystal chameleon flakes in purple/red/blue & purple/red/gold. Lindsay partnered up with Bees Knees Lacquer for a Harry Potter-themed duo. Lindsay’s half of the duo is based on the love of Molly Weasley. This polish, y’all. It’s one of the busiest polishes I’ve ever seen, and it’s amazing. There’s SO much happening in it, but it’s this cohesive mix that just works so effing well. My photos show two coats plus top coat. She also has a Hand Stamped Metal Cuff Bracelet that I’ll show below. It’ll go for $11 in the IPU and is capped at 20.

I hope y’all are as in love with all of these as I am. I’m so stoked for this theme because there’s SO many ways that these makers could go with.

The February Polish Pickup and Indie Pickup both tomorrow, 2/1 at 11am EST, and will remain open until the following Monday at 11:59pm. As usual, shipping is a flat $3 for the US and a flat $5 for our neighbors North of the wall! International shipping is also available at cost. For more photos and links on what is offered, you’re going to want to check out the Polish Pickup Pack on FB.

And with that, I’m outtie. I think I may go watch some Xfiles and soak. OR. Read more of the Magicians. Either way, I hope y’all have a wonderful night and I appreciate you fine folks for stopping by.

***The products mentioned in this post were sent to me in exchange for a review and photos, which can be found above.***

  1. Thank you so much for swatching. Your pics are always so perfectly true to color. And i love reading litterally everything you write.

  2. I ended up skipping this month for PPU which is a first since it started. I’m in the middle of swatching my entire collection on swatch sticks and feeling a bit guilty about all the unused colors I have. Seeing your photo of the MKT has me rethinking about skipping.

  3. I’m struggling to choose a favorite! They’re all amazing in such different ways. Love Is Powerful Magic is so unique. I can’t say I’ve ever seen a polish like it! Love it. But I’m also pretty obsessed with the first two colors because I could definitely see myself wearing them all spring into summer.
