Hey y’all! Happy Friday! We’ve made it through the first week of 2018! I’m off for the weekend (perks of a M-F job… I think I’ve made it y’all) and so so so ready to catch up on some much needed sleep and swatches. It’s been super cold here, too, so I’m even more excited just because I can stay in my pjs and new slippers and be a total bum. SO MUCH EXCITEMENT. But for real though, it’s been unreasonably cold here. Like. -5 with a real feel of -17 cold. Has it been cold in your neck of the woods too?

I hope you’re all bundled up and cozy now because we’re in for a long post – I’m trying something a little different for this round because of my new schedule. The polishes that I was lucky enough to swatch for the January Polish Pickup will be shown in one mass post. This won’t be my norm, but I also think it’s kinda neat seeing all of the polishes in one place.

January’s theme is Crystals & Gemstones, and every single maker totally knocked it out of the park. If you’re unfamiliar with the Polish Pickup, here’s a bit of info for ya! It’s this super neat thing because there are monthly themes where folks like you and I get to vote, and then makers can choose to participate if they want. And even better? Shipping is a flat $3 to the US and Canada. So, with all of the different creations, you can pick which ones you want, and then the gals over at FM will ship them your way after the preorder window.

There’s a ton of photos ahead, so you’ve been warned. LEHGO.

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer – The Corundum Conundrum ($12); inspired by the corundum, which is the stone that produces sapphires and rubies. It is a bright fuchsia crelly with fine blue shimmer, gold and blue microflakies, and two different color-shifting flakies: blue-violet/pink/gold and blue/green/gold. TCC is stunning! It’s this gorgeous bubblegum shade that glows and glows, especially with those flakies. My photos show two coats and top coat because it does dry matte – it’s gorgeous both ways, but I’m personally a fan of glossy polishes.

CrowsToes Nail Color – The Power Stone ($12); Inspired by the Infinity Stone of Power from the Guardians of the Galaxy. Described as a vibrant blue based purple creme base with strong warm pink shimmer and holographic microglitters.  I’m so proud of my photos of this one! That pink shift is so so so yummy and those sparkly microglitters? HOT DAMN MY DUDES. HOT DAMN. Photos show two coats plus top coat.

Don Deeva – Strawberry Fields Forever ($12); inspired by the strawberry quartz. A purple/orange/red UCC flake with an aurora pigment running throughout a linear base. This one can be worn either solo or as a topper and it’s seriously pretty both ways! I love how the base has so much going on that even with my stained nails it still looks totally kickass. That, and those flakies. Ahhhhmazeballs. First two photos are 3 coats solo with TC and final photo is one coat over black plus top coat.

le polish – I Want To Suck Your Bloodstone ($11.50); inspired by bloodstone (also, fair warning if you google that. you may or may not find some glass toys for lady bits. eye bleach may be needed). A teal polish with red to orange to gold color shifting flakies and red to gold color shifting shimmer. Okay but like those flakies have me shook to my very core. They work SO well with the base color and ugh. I need a cold shower. Or three. Photos show two coats plus top coat.

LynBDesigns – Biz-Myth-Icorn ($12); inspiration was drawn from an awesome piece of art featuring a unicorn made out of crystal bismuth. A pale pink lavender polish with purple to blue to red to gold UCC flakies with added pink to purple to blue shimmer. Go on. Peep that macro. Look at those flakies. They’re totally drool-worthy, yeah? The polish applies super smoothly in just two coats. Photos show top coat added.

Moon Shine Mani – El Corazón ($12); based on the film Romancing the Stone and the El Corazón gem from the movie. An intense emerald linear holographic with scattered evergreen holographic microglitter, and a rich mix of glitters in iridescent red to green, iridescent purple, olive green, aqua holo squares and lime to gold iridescent sparks. I had a tiny bit of texture with this one because there are so many glitters packed in it, but with generous top coat, it smoothed out pretty well! Staining has not been reported, but with greens like this, base coat is recommended. My photos show two coats plus top coat. Gorgeous, right?

MTK Design – Fire Within ($11.50); inspired by the orange variation of the fire opal. Super sparkle bomb orange to golden yellow thermal in a neon jelly with multi colored mini iridescent flakies, glitters, and a subtle chartreuse flash. Please don’t let my photos fool you – this baby transitions beautifully and it’s not subtle, either. My first photo shows it in the cold state and the second two are it warm. I LOVE this one! We originally thought it’d need a white base but nope! My photos show two coats plus top coat. That green in there, SO GOOD.

Night Owl Lacquer – Chasing Dreams ($12); “My inspiration this month comes from a stone drawn by my very talented mom, Kim of Arts At Midnight.  I decided to go with a name that represented the two of us rather than the stone itself.” It is described as a silver linear holographic base with a pinkish red to yellow shifting shimmer, charcoal flakies, bright silver flakes and 3 different shades of color shifting ultra chrome chameleon flakes. That pink shift pulls it into the most glorious almost-taupe that is everything right in the world. Legit. My photos show two coats plus top coat. This heartfelt beauty is shown here as two coats with top coat.

Starlight Polish – Stellaria ($12); inspired by blue goldstone. A dark blue jelly with silver sparkles and three sizes of sterling silver flakes. Mmmmh, inky goodness! This one takes as bit to build up opacity due to the jelly base, but oh man. It’s delicious! My photos show two coats on my index finger, three on the rest, all with top coat.

Turtle Tootsie Polishes – Amethyst Geode ($11); inspired by an amethyst geode (yeah, I know, you’re surprised. ME TOO!) A dark silvery gray linear holo polish with neon pink and purple micro flakies, chameleon purple and blue flakies and fuchsia flakies. My closeup photos are just a touch dark but I mean. C’mon. Those purple flakies absolutely shine, don’t they? Effing beautiful. Photos show two coats plus top coat.

And there you have it! The January Polish Pickup is open from now until Monday January 8th at 11:59 PM EST. As usual, shipping is a flat $3 for folks within the US and for our neighbors North of the wall. Good shit, yeah?!

For more photos and links on everything available for preorder now, you’re going to want to check out the Polish Pickup Pack on FB.

With that, I am out for the evening. Boyfriend just handed me a kitkat and my fatassery knows no bounds. Thanks for stopping by!

***The nail polishes mentioned in this post were sent to me in exchange for an honest review and photos, which can be found above.***

  1. Since I learned about Polish Pickup my collection has grown tremendously. I narrowed my list down to 8 this month but my original list had 20. I only wear one polish a week too! At this rate I’ll have to live to 100 to wear all my polishes. (Bought the Starlight and Crows Toes from your pictures)

  2. I was going through the swatches and thinking “oh, I like this one!… and this one!… and this one… ok, I like all of them”. Seriously, these are super pretty.
