Afternoon, folks! I’ve missed you guys greatly, I just haven’t had a whole lot of energy lately. Work has taken a very unawesome turn so I’ve just been trying to lay low. That being said, I have so so so many things to share, so it’s not logical to keep hiding. Today I’ve got an awesome new primer that I’ve been testing for about 3 or 4 weeks, and I’m pretty sure you’re all going to love it!
Since I tend to swatch several polishes each day, I’m not looking for longevity in my wear time. Usually. Now and then, however, I’d like to have some manis last, usually when we’re going out somewhere and I won’t have time to redo my nails. This primer from 2x has been PERFECT.
Quoting from website because words are hard:
2X is a new and exciting product that will double the life of most nail polish. A clear coating, 2X is applied to your clean, bare nails prior to applying polish and again after applying your top coat. 2X provides super chip resistance for most nail polishes.
Norman Polston, PhD is the inventor of 2X. Dr. Polston was on the Dupont team that created water-based
house paint in the 1980’s. He used that
technology to invent a water-based nail polish, initially marketed 15 years ago as Go Natural, and since then rebranded and sold under a variety of names. One of them is Piggy Paint, a non-toxic, safe nail polish designed for little girls and their mothers. Piggy Paint is currently sold in Targets and Walmarts nationwide.
Dr. Polston’s newest invention is guaranteed to make your life much easier. Market testing has proven that 2X will double the life of most polishes so that the user only needs to paint their nails half as often!
I tested the primer with normal polishes, without any art, and also with a kickass watermarble that I kept on for 8 days. That, my friends, is an actual record for me. I only had a little wear and tear toward the end, but it was moreso the tips of my nails showing the white base underneath. No chipping in sight!
The primer has an almost chemical smell, but not quite. If you’ve ever gotten a tattoo and they’ve told you to use A & D ointment, it smells super similar to that, I think. I kinda dig it since that smell is… comforting? Weird nose, I know. But it’s easy and dries quickly and honestly makes a huge difference. Nail art on me tends to peel and chip super quickly, I’m pretty sure it’s just my body chemistry combined with several layers of polish. This, though, dudes. I wore this marble to an amusement park and even with death gripping the seats and washing my hands over and over and over and over, it didn’t budge.
I used one coat of 2x, and then followed it with Bluebird Lacquer‘s Light matter. Once that dried, I added one more coat of 2x and then prepped for my marble. I used Bluebird Lacquer’s Brocation collection and then used some vinyls and Noche from Moonflower Polish. Once eeeeeeverything dried, I topped it all with seche vite for maximum glossage.
Day three, while we were at the park! I may or may not have gotten some serious motion sickness, so I sat down while the nerds went on a few rides and I couldn’t help but stare at my nails. Totally took my mind off of feeling nauseous. PRETTY NAILS AND A DISTRACTION. YEAAAAAH BUDS.
This one is a bit blurry, but that’s okay. Here we are at day 8 and you can see the white base showing through on the tips. Nothing crazy, and definitely not shrinkage from SV. I use computers every day and type a ton, so tip wear like this is 100% normal for me. But this didn’t happen until the last day.
I’m also super excited to be able to say that the primer DOES NOT make removing your polish more difficult. The only thing it changed at all was the length of time that it stayed on my nails without any chips. I’m kinda really jazzed about this, if we’re being honest here. It’s nice to be able to do my nails and not worry about them chipping or the polish flaking off with my body chemistry being a mess.
Be sure to check them out on social media!
Thanks for stopping by, y’all!
