Press samples ahead!
Evening, friendos! I’ve had the last few days off and it was glorious! Mark has to be up in Indy all week till Monday, so as soon as I dropped him off at work this morning, I went back and took a nap. I was up for a few hours playing WoW and then decided I wanted to take another nap. It. Was. Glorious. I miss him muchly, though. Thinking about going to the gym for a little while tonight to A) kill some time and B) have a healthy distraction. Oooooor I can stay in my pajamas and eat cocoa crispies. Decisions decisions.
Tonight, I’ve got Northern Star Polish‘s contribution to the July Polish Pickup to share! If you’d like a bit more info on how it all works, you can check out this post with a buncha details. It’s a pretty neat polish program and I’m super happy to see it doing so well! This month’s theme is Cocktails & Mocktails and I mean really, what better way to start off my birthday month than with yummy drinks and gorgeous nail polish? Alllllll the yaaasss.
Kristin spoils me. I mean. I think she does with all of her bloggers, but in my mind, I’M THE SPECIAL ONE. She sends me candies and pretty little packages and I love them so. I look forward to getting swatch mail from her each time! My header photo shows the little candy shark bracelet she sent. I can’t bring myself to nom on it just yet. Sharks are my favorite, and it’s just too effing cute. Now I just need to make sure that I have it hidden before Mark can find it and tear into it.
But also. Before we do swatches? I need y’all to peep her new holographic label. Because oh. hot. damn. Also. Label is an ugly word when you type it out. It just looks stupid.
ANYWHO. Shark Bite! It’s based off of this drink by Mixthatdrink.com and she did a killer job with it!
Shark Bite ($9); “inspired by the bold colors of its namesake, Shark Bite has an ocean blue base with red micro flakes and blue shimmer. I reached opacity with 3 thin coats, and did not experience staining although I do recommend using a basecoat as everyone’s body chemistry is different. Each polish comes with a shark candy bracelet.”
Well shit. Allll y’all get that shark candy bracelet. I’M STILL SPECIAL AND I’M TOTALLY PRETENDING THAT YOU DON’T GET IT.
This polish nearly went on in one coat for me, but I added one more thin coat just to cover up any VNL that may have been showing along with Seche Vite to top it. It went on in a buttery-smooth fashion and just, ugh. It’s incredibly pretty. Kristin has a knack for making complex polishes that are just plain out of this world. Shark Bite is no exception, my dudes. The more I look at it, the deeper I fall in love with it. Sorry Mark. This may have won my heart. At least it can’t put a ring on my finger. I mean. Unless polish becomes sentient in the next few years.
Man, it’s pretty. I’ve also got the recipe for the drink in case you lovely folks want to sip on something yummy while painting those pretty little digits! It sounds like something I’d drink. May have to make one myself!
Shark Bite Drink Recipe
- 3/4 ounce Captain Morgan spiced rum
- 3/4 ounce light rum
- 1/2 ounce blue curacao
- 1 1/2 ounce sweet and sour
- 3 drops grenadine
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour in all your ingredients except for the grenadine. Shake it well and strain into an old-fashioned glass. Drop the grenadine over an ice cube and serve quickly so it looks like blood in the water.
What do y’all think? I’m super excited for all of the polishes that are being offered this month!
This will be available on 7/7 at 11am EST. The order window will be open for four days with $3 flat rate shipping to the US and Canada. Shark Bite will be $9.00 for 12ml and is limited to 50 bottles, so make sure to set your alarms!
