Hey y’all! I hope you guys are having a fantastic evening! We just got back from seeing Wonder Woman, and ho lee she it, it was FANTASTIC. I didn’t think I’d like it (because I really only watch horror movies, if any at all), but it was SO well done. It didn’t fit in with the cheesy, over-the-top campy trope that most superhero movies do, and I am very glad. I definitely would like to see it again at some point! Have you guys seen it?
Anywho. This duo that I’ve got to share with y’all tonight, oh my word. I’m so excited. It’s been in the works for a few months now, and wish schedules letting up a bit, my dearest Lindsay from Night Owl Lacquer made it happen and ready to go this weekend. You see, in the fan group on facebook, which I help admin, I refer to the folks in there as my little owlets. It caught on and now that’s what I think of them as. The group is small, and just lovely. Well, I found a gif of a widdol baby owlet getting some good pats on the head, and all I went to Lindsay with the idea of a group custom based on it.
I mean, really though. Isn’t it cute as all get out? I feel like it just may be my patronus. It’s how I feel when Mark crawls into bed at night and rubs my back. I wake up a little grumpy and confused but ohhh, those back rubs. He dun good, y’know?
The custom for the group turned into a collab between Lindsay and I because we wanted to share it outside of the NOL group, too. I’m excited. Not just because I had a part in it, but because these are gorgeous and it means the absolute world to me. Over the last almost year, I’ve had the chance to get to know the OG Owlet, and I’m beyond proud to call her one of my best friends. She puts up with my incessant babbling, and ranting, and princess moments, and talking to her always puts a smile on my face. I don’t know what I’d do without her in my life. My nails surely wouldn’t be as pretty, and that would be a daaaaaaaaamn shame. So let’s take a look, yeah?
We wound up going with two parts to encompass the ups and downs that we, as humans, have. My struggle with depression is no secret, and there are good days and bad days, and I’m quite fond of the idea of celebrating both.
First up is Gloomy Little Owlet, a “a dark brown linear holo with gold flakes and white flakes.” It’s a one coater, and absolutely delicious. It’s on the thicker side because of the heavy amount of pigment, but I had no issues at all. My photos show one coat plus top coat, and unf. It’s such a rich shade, and reminds me of hot cocoa, or the perfect cup of coffee, like what I want to curl up with on the days when I don’t want to people during thunderstorms. The flakies add so much depth to it, too!
Bubbly Little Owlet; “a medium brown linear holo with copper shimmer, taupe & dark brown micro flakies, white flakes and gold flakes.” Hello, taupey, happy goodness! This polish, you guys, is incredible. I never thought I’d be so in love with taupes and browns, but here we are. It’s inviting and comforting. I don’t know how to explain it, or if that makes sense, but it really is. It’s a happy and warm shade. This one is a bit thinner, but it’s absolutely PACKED with the makings of a good lacquer. My photos show this happy color in two coats plus top coat.
I know they’re not your typical summer shades, but Lindsay did such an amazing job. Like. I ain’t even bringing the fact that she’s a bestie to the equation. These polishes are phenomenal, just like everything else she makes.
These will go live for sale tomorrow, June 16th at 9pm MST (11EST!) and you can grab them for $20 as a duo or $10.50 individually. There’s also a gorgeous beachy quad releasing, and that should be on the blog here shortly, so be sure to check back.
Also! In case you’ve forgotten, my readers also have an exclusive code for 10% off of NOL! TGOB10, yo! Still not affiliate, just something nice for the little owlets!
And with that, I am out for the evening. Perhaps time for a tub journey and some editing, yup! Thanks for stopping by!
