Okay, okay. I’ll calm down. But really? Harry Potter and nail polish? Sign me the hell up!

I just. My love for Bliss Polish knows no bounds. Yvette is a fantastic human and she makes some beyond gorgeous polishes. When I heard she was coming out with a Harry Potter-inspired collection, I may or may not have lost my cool. Happy dancing and high-pitched squeals were happening all over the place. I had to wait a few days for a restock, but oh man, so worth it.

{Photo heavy, as usual. Is this even a surprise at this point? Also, all photos show each polish with Seche Vite Top Coat.}

Expecto Patronum; “a delicate near-white holo”. Ohmanohmanohman. The formula is perfect. The color is perfect. The whole thing. P E R F E C T. It went on in two thin coats and looked so damn pretty in every different kind of lighting. My photos show it a little more blue/grey than it is, but I promise, it’s much more of an ethereal white in person.

The Boy Who Lived; “A baby blue linear holo.” Whether or not this is a fandom polish, it’s perfect for spring. It’s just fresh and clean and so beautifully delicate. The holo on this one is super strong, even though the base was a little thicker than Bliss’ typical linear holo formula. I used two super thin coats.

9 3/4; “A bronzed brown jelly with copper holo glitter and red flakies”. I’m gonna preface this by reiterating my dislike for glitter. This is gorgeous. Really. I had to use 3 coats to get full opacity and two coats of top coat to get rid of the texture BUT I really enjoy this polish. That, and it wasn’t a total bitch to take off. Yellow Stopper, FTW.

Diagon Alley; “A deep purple jelly filled with blue and purple flakes and accented with purple holo micro glitter.” Oh, this one. It’s so gorgeous. I don’t even know how to describe it. It’s magical, really. The shift that the flakes cause within the jelly base adds a whole different dimension to the polish. Two coats plus top coat shown here.

Knockturn Alley; “A blackened teal jelly filled with gunmetal grey flakes and blue holo glitter.” KA is totally the underdog of the collection, but it’s a damn stunner. It fits the name, honestly. It’s mysterious and shifty in the best way. I had no issues with any of the glitter not settling (YAY!) and y’all see it here with two coats.

Fawkes in Flight; “A vivid red jelly filled with gold and rose gold metallic flakes.” Holy shit. Ho. Lee. She. It. FiF is sexy as all get out. It’s classy and seductive and unf all at the same time. It’s so bright and lives up to the name. My goodness. I’ll give y’all a little time to go change your underthings. It’s okay. I’ll wait.

After All This Time (bonus polish included with the full-sized set);  “After All This Time is a dedication polish in honor of Alan Rickman who played Severus Snape in the Harry Potter movies. Alan passed away this past January at the age of 69 from pancreatic cancer. He is one of my favorite characters in the movies and what he did on screen as Professor Snape made me love the character in the books.

“But this is touching, Severus,” said Dumbledore seriously. “Have you grown to care for the boy, after all?” “For him?” shouted Snape. “Expecto Patronum!” From the tip of his wand burst the silver doe. She landed on the office floor, bounded once across the office, and soared out of the window. Dumbledore watched her fly away, and as her silvery glow faded he turned back to Snape, and his eyes were full of tears. “After all this time?” “Always,” said Snape.” “

I nearly cried putting this one on. I watched Love Actually the other day and seeing Alan Rickman on the screen again stung just a little. He was (and will continue to be) one of my favorite actors. His death, and the death of Robin Williams both hit super hard. This polish is a gorgeous tribute, and it’s perfect. It’s inky and deep, just like Snape was. It’s like a galaxy on your nails.

 Isn’t the set beautiful? This may be one of my favorite collections of the year.

You currently cannot buy the full set (including the bonus polish) because it’s sold out, but hopefully it’ll be restocked soon! You can, however, buy the individual pretties through Yvette’s shop and while you’re there, you can also check out her cuticle oils. They’re fantastic, and they don’t leave any sort of greasy residue on my fingers.

Anywho. I’m out for the afternoon. I hope y’all are having a lovely week and I should be back in a day or so with some more things to share!

-Velashaa out!
