I’m a holo hussy. You guys know this by now. It should be no surprise that I went on the hunt for a ruby red holo for my birthday next month. With recommendations from the indie nail fans on facebook, I was directed (overwhelmingly) toward Colors by llarowe and two specific reds: The Mighty Red Baron and Pirates of Penzance.

Naturally, I had to snag them and one more because I don’t have any sort of self-restraint when it comes to holographic polish. After trying them all out over the last few days, I see why everyone loves her polishes so much. the formulas are fantastic and I can’t even with all of the holo packed into each bottle. Seriously.

Not even ten minutes after tearing open the package, I’d started applying Pirates of Penzance and holy whoa. I think it’s my favorite. It’s got this gorgeous glow to it (really really, the only editing I did was to add my watermark) that just doesn’t quit. It glows in any lighting, despite what it looks like in the bottle. Admittedly, when I opened my package, I was somewhat disappointed because of how it looked in the bottle. I guess that goes to show that you shouldn’t judge a polish by it’s bottle, hah.

Next up is the ethereal beauty that is Meet Me Over the Rainbow Bridge. Typing that makes me tear up, no lie. It is a tribute polish for her lab, Zipper. I had to have it because my best friend and furbaby, Schultze, passed away in October of 2013 and I think of him daily.

The polish itself is almost like the soft blue sky dotted with fluffy clouds and the holo is the rainbow. Yeah, yeah. Cheesy. It’s so delicate and pretty and everybody needs it.

The final polish is The Mighty Red Baron – I’m 103% positive that this will be my go-to Christmas red. Without any flash on, it’s a vampy red and I feel pretty kickass in it. In the light, it reminds me of this pretty red velvet dress that I had when I was little. My momma made me wear it for Christmas one year and I hated it then because it made me itch, but it really was my favorite thing.

If we’re going to be 100% honest here, y’all have to know that this stains pretty badly. You can see around my cuticles the red that it left behind after my cleanup. It’s pretty enough that I don’t mind, but I’m kinda bummed that even Yellow Stopper didn’t help at all. I will have to see if a soak can get my nails back to their normal color so it doesn’t look like I murdered someone. It’s a good thing I work from home, huh?

Overall, I thoroughly enjoy these polishes, and I will be purchasing more in the future. Do you guys have any favorites from CbL that I need to have in my collection?

Also, I just want to say thanks to those that for stuck around during the post hiatus. I’ve changed my username on IG and Facebook since I’ve been staying away from makeup and sticking to nails alone. Hoping I can get into a regular posting schedule!

    1. Haha, I know how you feel! It took a little longer than I’d like to receive any sort of shipping notification, but totally worth it in the end! What did you wind up picking?
