I told y’all I’d be back, didn’t I? I mean. I didn’t say when, so I technically didn’t lie, right?!
Yet again, it has been far too long. The weather quickly dropped, the leaves are now changing, Halloween candy is now discounted and Christmas decorations are out in all stores in full force. I’m loving this time of the year, and I’m hoping it gets my brain to start making the happy chemical. I started therapy a few weeks back, and while I’ve also started a bullet journal (I’m obsessed), I think getting back to the blog may help as well. Only my google drive knows how many press samples I have to share. We could be here for the next 90 days and I’d still have posts. SO!
For this evening’s polish babble, I’ve got 8 shades from the November Polish Pickup (which opens tomorrow which means that the year is almost over…?!) to share, and I’m super stoked because the theme for this month is Badass Women. If you’re unsure of what the Polish Pickup is, I recommend checking out this post here. The only thing that’s changed is that shipping to Canadialand is now $5, but that’s it.
Before we dive into the swatches, I wanna point out my middle finger. The polish is so far away from the cuticle because mine decided to be a bitch and disappear and holy eff it’s painful. I didn’t want to get polish too close and irritate it anymore. I promise. I kinda know how to polish my nails.
Lindsay’s inpiration? “All women who battle mental health issues, because constantly fighting against your own mind but still persevering is definitely bad ass in my opinion.” I’m not crying. You are.
This shade is gorgeous, and so deeply complex, just like the brain. It looks almost grey in the bottle with a plum shift, but no. It’s got so much going on, and it goes on in just two thin coats. I’d also like to note that my bottle had flakies stick to the side BUT that was just from transit and I had zero issues getting those flakies to show in my photos.
Lollipop is returning to our roots with this tribute to Tori Amos, who was also the inspiration for our first-ever collection! It feels good to go home again. We will be donating $1 from every bottle sold of ‘My Heart is Like the Ocean’ to RAINN. Tori was RAINN’s very first national spokesperson, and we can’t think of a better way to honor her and the impact her music has had on us. Her song “Take to the Sky” [is the inspiration]
Uhm. Holy balls, y’all. I’d sell my soul for this shade. The pink in it is yummy and it’s just lovely overall. My photos show two coats plus top coat.
Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer | Science is Curiosity ($12 – capped, 75 without a magnet, 25 with magnets); galaxy in a bottle! Black jelly base with pink and royal blue glass flecks, red microflakies, scattered holographic pigment, small silver holo glitter, and a blue/green/fuchsia shifting magnetic pigment.
Julie drew her inspiration from Sally Ride and totally nailed the spacey theme. Now, the magnetic finish in this is super strong, and it’s gorgeous. My asshole cat, however, ATE my arc magnets, so I used a cat eye one that didn’t have a crazy strong result. It’s also noted that with all magnetic polishes, use the magnet again after you first put top coat on. It’ll seal in that magnetic effect. Totally worth. My photos show two coats plus top coat.
CrowsToes Nail Color | You Have No Power Here($12 – capped at 75); an emerald/teal sparkly shimmerfest. Inspiration is from LotR, Lady Galadriel specifically. “During the battle to free Gandalf at Dol Guldur when Lady Galadriel decides she has had enough and sends the evil Sauron back to the void. “
Madame Crow totally killed it this month. My photos show the greener side of things, and I’m totally in love with it. It goes on in one badass coat and self-levels super well. I’ve been told that it can stain, so a good base coat is recommended. That said, my stain-sensitive nails did not pick up any color under the liquid latex BC I use. My photos of this amazing shade show just one coat and top coat.
Moon Shine Mani | I Am Different, Not Less ($11); a bright cornflower blue cream with a pink to green glow, iridescent violet/red/orange chameleon flakies and holographic micro flakies. Inspiration: Dr. Temple Grandin, who is a professor of animal science and autism spokesperson. She is one of the first individuals on the autism spectrum to publicly share insights from her personal experience of autism.
This polish is so delicate, and so dainty, but has such a big meaning. I personally had never heard of Dr. Temple Grandin, but after a bit of research on her and her work, I feel like she’d love this shade. My photos show two coats and top coat.
crystal knockout | Iconic, Incredible ($12.50); a dark blue-purple holographic base with a blue flash, indigo-purple aurora, violet shimmer, silver holo micro shreds, purple holo micro glitter, bright pink and purple flakies, and iridescent blue flakes. Inspiration: Lady Gaga. A portion of total sales from this polish will be donated to the National Fibromyalgia Association to help fund research and awareness of this still-misunderstood condition.
I don’t know how many of y’all are fans of Lady Gaga, but I certainly am, especially after watching her documentary several months back. This polish beautifully represents her and her struggles (and is totally stunning, too!). My photos show two coats plus top coat.
LynBDesigns | I Don’t Flirt ($12); a black base with a hint of purple shimmer, silver holo micro flakies, gold copper bronze UCC flakies and red to copper to gold to orange UCC flakies. Inspiration: Jessica Jones.
Jenna, girl. You make me want to watch Jessica Jones. If it’s anything like this inky masterpiece, I’m game. The polish is dark and broody and pretty as all hell. It goes on in two coats and dries with a tiny bit of texture. I used two coats of Seche Vite for my personal enjoyment because of my tactile issues, BUT you can totally use one and be gravy.
Sweet Heart Polish | Hey, Catnip ($11 – capped at 100 bottles); a warm golden brown shimmer with gold and copper holo micro glitters. It is inspired by Katniss Everdeen and the first interaction between her and Gale in the woods while hunting on reaping day.
Hello, fantastic holiday polish, I love you. It’s autumn in a bottle and goes on like a dream. I can foresee several holiday manis done with this pretty. My photos show two coats plus top coat.
Aren’t these perfect? I’m so excited to see all of the badass women that inspired all of the month’s shades. My heart is SO happy.
The November Polish Pickup opens tomorrow, 11/2 at 11am EST, and will remain open until the following Monday at 11:59pm. As usual, shipping is a flat $3 for the US and a flat $5 for our neighbors North of the wall! International shipping is also available at cost. For more photos and links on what is offered, you’re going to want to check out the Polish Pickup Pack on FB.
And now it’s time for some ice cream, a soak, and a movie before bed. Thanks for stopping by, and I hope to be back here shortly!
