Long time, no blog, nerdlings! It’s been quiet here, mostly just swatching and netflixing. It’s not very Christmasy around here just yet, but we’ve got snow rolling in tonight and tomorrow, so I’m super excited! I even – PREPARE YOURSELVES – bought real shoes. They’re some comfy Danskins, so hopefully they help the hurty feets that I deal with. The real reason for buying shoes, however, is…
I GOT A JOB. It’s been a long 5 months trying to figure out what I was going to do, making ends meet, all that bs, but here we are! KBShimmer is based in my town, and had a position open. I applied, interviewed, and got the job! Text on a blog post cannot possibly convey just how excited I am for this. I’ve wanted to get more into the indie world, and this is my chance. Christy is so sweet and I cannot wait to join her team after the new year.
But, enough about that! I’ve got two gorgeous polishes from Octopus Party Nail Lacquer that are available now. You don’t want to miss them!
Dave has created an ongoing collection based on the Roman holiday, Saturnalia. It is celebrated from December 17th through the 23rd in honor of the Roman god, Saturn. Events included a sacrifice at the Temple of Saturn, a public banquet, private gift-giving, and a carnival atmosphere that overturned Roman social norms. Toward the end of each year, Dave will release two new polishes that fit within the collection. I love this idea!
First up is Phota ($11), which is a “full coverage glitter composed of various blue, black, and gold holographic glitters. Inspired by Macrobius’s interpretation of Saturnalia as a festival of light leading to the winter solstice, with candles symbolizing the quest for knowledge and truth.” It’s got great coverage, and if you don’t do super thin coats like me, it’s fully opaque in two. Because there are so many glitters, it’s got a bit of texture, but I topped it with Seche Vite to smooth it all out.
Next is Banquet ($12), which is a “hunter-based green to fuschia duochrome with a strong linear holographic flame. Inspired by public banquets that marked Saturnalia festivities.” Banquet is I N S A N E L Y beautiful! It’s a perfect two-coater, and goes on so smoothly. Just look at that shift, though. My goodness.
Also! While you’re grabbing these, you may want to snag a few more. Now through January 1st, Dave is offering FREE SHIPPING on domestic orders of $40 or more with code: FREESHIP17 OR 10% off international orders of $40 or more with code: INTER10.
Thanks for stopping by! I’ll be back tomorrow after I edit something like 300 photos ahahahahahahimcryingontheinside
