Yep. I’m back with another dose of TGOB for the day. It’s currently 30 outside and our windows don’t open and I’m actually melting, so I have the AC on. I’m glad I’m the only one downstairs currently, I’m pretty sure everyone would flip out at me. I’m loving that the weather is cooling down, but 1) it’s not reaching me inside the house and 2) my scalp is now an itchy hot mess thanks to the weather going from 90 to 30 in a week. I’m pretty sure that I’ll never actually be satisfied in life. Life sucks and then you die, right?
At least I’ve got oodles of nail polish to comfort me in these trying times.
This afternoon, I want to show y’all a beautiful quartet from LynBDesigns! Jennalyn based these four polishes on The Great Pumpkin, which makes me think of my dad and how we’d watch the Peanuts special each Halloween. It’s funny, he actually shared a photo on facebook last night talking about the Great Pumpkin, and it brought back some pretty sweet nostalgia. He’s a big techie (or was not too long ago), so he understands that I blog and SEO and all that stuff, but doesn’t quite get the nail polish aspect of it. When I saw his photo, I’d commented about swatching a collection inspired by TGP and I think he liked it even though he had no clue what just a “swatch” was. Bless his heart.
Sing Pumpkin Carols; a bright pink shifty base that shifts from red to violet to blue with loads of holo added. Normally I’d save my favorite for last, but this pink has my heart. It’s shimmery and delicious and the formula is absolutely killer. It needed only two coats (plus top coat, as usual) to have me needing a cold shower to calm down after falling in lust with it. Just. Yes. Good.
Religion, Politics, and The Great Pumpkin; an indigo base with blue to purple to green shifty shimmer and orange holo micro sparkle. My camera mostly picked up on the purple part of the shimmer, and friggen A, it’s divine. I thought it’d be quite sheer, but it went on in two smooth coats without any issues. Definitely another favorite of mine from the quad!
The Pumpkin Patch; a green base added some blue shimmer, blue glass flecks, and a ton of orange to green iridescent glitter and holo micro flakes. What a unique green! It pulls this blueish jade color, and it is all sorts of yummy. Absolutely perfect for fall! It was a bit on the thicker side with the base needing to suspend the flakies and glitter, but I had no issues with application. It dried with a tiny bit of texture after two coats, but smoothed out with one easy coat of Seche Vite.
I’m a Believer; a black jelly base with a ton of red to gold shifting shimmer with tons of holo shreds and holo flakies. You guys. Those glass flakies are friggen magical, and are enough to make me a believer in damn near anything. With the jelly base and shimmer, it’s a bit sheer, but built up easily with two coats and I had no issues with the flakies settling to the bottom of the bottle. Shifty magical magic in a tiny little bottle. So good!
This quartet is giving me life, y’all. Seriously. It’s such a creative take on the Great Pumpkin, and Jennalyn totally knocked it out of the park. You can grab these now for $10 each or $40 for the full set. Also, for a short period of time, you can use discount code HOLOWEEN for half off of your full order. Like. Legit. Go stock up on pretties!
What’s on your shopping list?
