April 2017 Polish Pickup | Northern Star Polish

Press samples ahead

Y’all. It’s Monday. I think. Probably, right? I changed my shifts all around and my brain can’t brain any of this stuff. But! It’s already April, and that means Spring and bright colors and hella rain. I can dig it. With the new month, comes shiny new things and you guys, I’m completely stoked. The lovely gals behind Fair Maiden Polish are helping to host a new monthly lacquer shop called the Polish Pickup. It’s a neat idea because there are monthly themes where folks like you and I get to vote, and then makers can choose to participate if they want. And even better? Shipping is a flat $3 to the US and Canada. So, with all of the different creations, you can pick which ones you want, and then the gals over at FM will ship them your way after the preorder window.

The theme for April is famous works of art, and all of these makers completely outdid themselves. I’ve got a few to show y’all over the next few days, but first, let’s take a look at Northern Star Polish‘s contribution!

Kristin chose “The Scream” by Edvard Munch (1893) as her inspiration for her polish, Scream of Nature. I’ve always been drawn to this piece of art, personally, because I like dark and otherworldly things. Not that this is necessarily that, but it’s darker, and it’s been a favorite of mine for a long while.

I’m going to go ahead and paste in her description for her creation because I fail at describing all things and, well, she did such an awesome job.

Inspired by the bold colors of the painting, the polish has a navy leaning teal base with red/gold/orange shifting flakes and pink/copper chrome pigment flash in the background like bursts of color against a dark sky.”

My photos show two coats plus top coat. I did a lot of non-bottle shots because holy shimmer, batman. It’s so pretty! Kirsten was one of the first indies that I worked with when I started swatching, and I’ve missed her creations something serious. She puts so much effort into them that you’d have to be blind not to see the how well she was able to bottle up the inspiration just for our nails. Seriously.

So, let’s take a look, shall we?

But really though, those flakies are far more pretty than they have any right to be.

Eff, and that shimmer! It’s stunning, no?

Gorgeous, huh? That denim blue shade is absolutely stunning. Hell, all of the polishes that will be available are stunning. I’m so excited to see this take off because it has SUCH great potential. The theme for next month has already been picked, but I’ll let y’all find out what that is on your own ;)

And now for purchasing info! This will be available on 4/7 at 11am EST. The order window will be open for four days. Scream of Nature will be $9.00 for 12ml and is limited to 50 bottles, so make sure to set your alarms!
