The Cake Is a Lie

Portal is amazing. Both 1 and 2. I’ve played both of them many many times, and even though my motion sickness kicks into high gear when playing (lord help me), I never tire of them. Sassy GLaDOS. Potatoes. Thinking with portals. That’s some good stuff.

Also, this cover from Peter Hollens and MysteryGuitarMan gives me life. I may or may not have had it on repeat for a few weeks.

Anywho. I saw that Pahlish was releasing a collection based on Portal, The Cake Is A Lie! collection, and both the boyfriend and I got super excited. It had to be mine. And now it is. Y’all ready for photos? I am!

First up? Combustible Lemon II. This gorgeous red orange jelly with flakes and glitter is a favorite from the collection. It went on super smoothly and settled very easily. I love it something fierce. I have three thin coats on here, plus top coat.

I love magenta. I love fuchsia. I love pinks and purples and reds. They’re all so pretty, no? I feel extra in love with Married (To Science!) and I need a backup bottle. It went on smoothly in 2 thin coats AND matches the gym equipment at Planet Fitness. I may or may not have taken several photos while there. So pretty. I love the flakes. I love the glitter. I love it all.

Okay. So. Maybe Black Mesa is the trickiest polish. Ever. I took, no lie, at least 40 photos and was really only happy with two (which didn’t even show the polish on my nails), but you’re going to see a few others as well. It’s this gorgeous indigo jelly with glitters and flakes and a bright purple shimmer. It’s deliciously complex and fully opaque in two coats.

I think 2016 is going to be my year to try all of the blues. So far, I’ve tried a few and I’m falling in love. This is Intelligence Dampening Sphere. IT GLOWS. GLOWY BLUE GOODNESS. It’s this gorgeous two coat blue jelly with glitters and flakes and everything.

Oh, and greens. 2016 is going to be filled with greens. I think I’m losing my mind. 7 months ago I wouldn’t have gone near a green polish. Now? I own at least 5, and Dangerous Mute Lunatic is one of them. This turquoise jelly is perfect in every single way, isn’t it? It’s another two coater and settles beautifully.

If you’re a polish-loving Portal fan, you need this collection before it goes away. You can snag it here! Which is your favorite from the collection?

Happy Sunday, nerds!

  1. Never heard of Portal, but Comestible Lemon II is my favorite orange since China Glaze Riveting, it’s been a long orange-less dry spell for me. I need this!!
