I can’t right now. I can’t even begin to describe the amount of happy that I am to share this with y’all. Harry Potter is my jam when combined with nail polish and nail care? Hell yes!
I have this gorgeous set from Northern Star Cosmetics and I’m pretty sure everyone is going to enjoy it. Kristin took such great care when packaging this, it’s very clear to see. This is the kind of detail that I look forward to seeing with indies. Makes me super proud to be a part of the indie polish community.
Just in case you can’t read the card she sent in my package, this set releases this Friday, the 13th at 12pm CST and will be available in her shop for $17.50. I dunno about y’all, but that’s a steal to me, especially considering what you’re getting with it. It’s going to be perfect for gifting this holiday season!
For the price, you’ll get a full-sized (15ml) polish, a 10ml cuticle oil, two reusable owl charms along with lightning bolt glitter, and a small vial filled with red and gold glitter, and finished off with a Deathly Hallows charm.
This polish. You guys. It’s perfect. It’s a gorgeous cherry red holo with gold microglitter. I’m in love, and I can totally see it being used many times during the holidays. It’s called Protego Totalum and you can read more about what that is here. Ready for pictures? I am. Photo spam incoming!
Isn’t it gorgeous? I also tried my hand at a little nail art with the charms and glitters and I’m quite pleased with myself. Just sayin’.
Protego Totalum is nearly a one-coater, but because I’m fond of doing thin coats, I used two for my photos and topped everything with Seche Vite. I found that it did not dull the holo or the color at all. This polish also settles really easily. I’ve noticed that some do not settle fully, so when you go to take photos, it doesn’t look super glossy. This polish, however, is perfect. It’s so smooth that the shine and holo were totally distracting at the gym yesterday.
Because Northern Star is totally new to me, I was really excited to get to try one of her cuticle oils. My nail bestie raved about them, and I can totally see why. Her oils absorb quickly and do not leave any sort of greasy or sticky feeling. The scent of this one, though, is why I love it so much. It’s called Butter Brew and holy shit. I love it. It’s delightfully sweet, but not overpowering at all. My nose picks up mostly on vanilla and marshmallow, but it’s a bit more complex than that. I totally dig it, and I vote y’all try it. Trufax.
At some point, I’m going to try some manis with glitter placement, but for now, I’ll just admire how damn adorable this vial is. Also, lolblur. I tried.
Overall, I’m totally pleased with this set, and Kristin is an actual sweetheart. I’m very excited about working with her and her gorgeous products.
I hope to see lots of you guys picking up sets of this on Friday!
